Michael is a principal with The RBL Group. His work is focused on leadership development and organizational change management and creating high performance individuals and organizations through performance and talent management. He is an expert in the development and roll-out of on-line performance and talent management systems. He consults extensively with organizations as they work to develop stronger leadership and deal with significant change. Known for his dynamic teaching, lecturing, and group facilitation, Michael has designed and taught courses for every level of learner, from grade-schoolers through graduate students, working professionals and retirees. Prior to his consulting career, Michael was a university professor. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. Michael is the author or editor of more than 35 books, articles and reviews and has served on the boards of several associations and foundations. The recipient of numerous research grants and awards, he worked for the May Department Stores Company prior to his academic career. He is the former Managing Director of the Center for Leadership Solutions. He is married to the internationally known choreographer Rebecca Wright Phillips and they have three children.
Michael has taught, trained and lectured throughout the United States, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. He has coached and trained hundreds of corporate leaders throughout the world and has helped design change initiatives and strategies at a number of major corporations. He also does a great deal of work in curriculum and instructional design.
